National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Today marks the first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour and remember the lost children and survivors who were forced to take part in the residential school system and the heartbreaking events that followed.

We would like to express gratitude to the Indigenous communities for being the ancestral caretakers of the land we call home, to work and live on. We encourage those using this land to learn more about Indigenous communities as the original inhabitants of this land, and acknowledge the struggles for justice that Indigenous people have faced historically and continue to face today.

Baysville, the home of Lake of Bays Brewing Co., is on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Ojibway, Chippewa, and Odawa peoples.

We encourage you to visit the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation website (nctr.ca) to learn more about the 94 calls to action made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada to advance the process of Canadian reconciliation.
